Toxic food for dogs

Some things that come naturally to us humans are not safe for our pets. Certain foods may not be acceptable or even toxic for your dog to eat. Below is a list of things your dog can't eat. The list is not complete and it should always be explained in detail whether the product should be shared with the dog or not.
- 1. Chocolate. It contains theobromine, which is toxic to animals and can cause kidney failure.
- 2. Onion. It is is particularly toxic to dogs and can cause gastrointestinal irritation and red blood cell damage.
- 3. Macadamia nuts. They contain a toxin that can affect your dog’s muscles and nervous system.
- 4. Grapes and raisins. They may cause severe liver damage and kidney failure.
- 5. Xylitol. It can cause liver failure and blood clotting disorders
- 6. Alcohol. Small amounts of alcohol can be toxic to animals and cause symptoms of poisoning such as sickness, diarrhoea and central nervous system damage
- 7. Milk products. Many dogs are lactose intolerant, which can cause diarrhea and stomach discomfort.
- 8. Cooked bones. These can easily splinter and cause constipation or perforation of the gut.
- 9. Garlic. It is potentially dangerous to dogs.
- 10. An avocado. Avocado plants contain a substance called Persin which can cause vomiting and diarrhoea.
- 11. Vegetarian foods. Dogs are carnivores, not herbivorous.
